I’ve never been struck in the groin more often and in faster succession than this morning.

Warren Ellis on his writing process →
“My comics scripting process has thoroughly mutated over the years. I use pretty much any method that works, and there’s little resembling a method left. Things sometimes start in a notebook, scrawled in pencil. Sometimes, on blessed days, I’ll open OpenOffice and start writing in fully-formatted script, straight from brain to page in finished manuscript.”

“Wolfram|Alpha’s Got the “Write” Stuff”

The right haircut at the right time
Having a very bad day at the office. As soon as Erin got home I made a departure. Let’s just say teething and lack of hours napped were the problem. I made my way to the great clips by my house and spent a very nice, very quiet 15 minutes getting a long overdue haircut. Thanks Trudy, or whatever your name is, for not being chatty.

Shared items added BACK to Google Reader
After some quick thought and consideration, I think I might have found an interesting way to integrate GR sharing with the rest of my site. As Side Orders.

Removed shared items from Google Reader
Mostly because it was just a test run that got truncated unexpectedly and subsequently forgotten. I’m still not sure what to do with that feature. So many social networking options out there, even after forsaking Twitter. (Although all of my Tumblr posts will be posted to my twitter account, be advised I’m no longer listening.)

An odd guilt
Hopefully I just wiped out a couple of underground yellow jacket nests tonight. And despite the fact that I just HATE wasps and yellow jackets, I feel an odd sense of guilt over laying into their home with a can of insecticide. But compared to how much I hate the little bastards who’ve taken up residence in my backyard, it’s pretty minor.

Bluehost screwed up my omnifocus
My webserver was down this morning. Not typically a big deal. But now that it’s back up, my webdisk is asking my iPod’s OmniFocus to login in order to sync the database. And when I do, it doesn’t accept it. After resetting and retrying a bunch of times, I’ve had to revert back to synching via Bonjour. Again, not a huge deal. But it’s wasted about 15 minutes of...

City wildlife
There is a surprisingly vibrant insect and animal population here in the city. I saw a racoon cross my front yard the other day. And I’m currently waging a war on two fronts against a civilization of yellowjackets. When I moved here from the country I thought the city would be sterile.

Note to everyone: Philip K. Dick isn't the only...
Bugs me that Hollywood can only make adaptations of Phil Dick’s work. Bugs me more that comic publishers are starting to ape Hollywood in this respect. Boom Studios are making a comic book of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep that features the full text of the original story. Stop it already!

Why did this fall out of use? This would have been much less irritating than the little plastic bracelets with the adhesive that gets caught in my armhairs. And what’s more important…eliminating an infant’s exposure to something that MAY cause cancer or something that’s KNOWN to hurt me?

Neil Gaiman writing a Batman story? I'm having... →
Two of my favorite comics writers are taking swings at writing Batman: Grant Morrison and Neil Gaiman. And my interest level is just barely registering. I guess the truth is I just don’t like Batman all that much. The Dark Night Returns and Batman: Year One pretty much satisfied me. And they were both published over 20 years ago.
